A missing 10-year-old girl’s body was found in Texas with a stab wound in the chest, authorities said Monday.
Jasmen Gonzalez, of Oklahoma, vanished from the home of a relative late Saturday night in Carrollton, a city north of Dallas, according to KDFW 4 News.
Her body was found around 3:30 p.m. Sunday afternoon, just a few blocks away from where she was staying, police said.
The medical examiner said she died from a stab wound to the chest, according to The Associated Press.
A person of interest is being questioned in the case, authorities said. He is described as a family friend, the AP reported.
A pick up truck parked outside the apartment where she was staying was taken by police.
Local cops and the FBI organized the search for Jasmen, who was in Texas with her family to visit relatives, according to The Oklahoman newspaper. Several volunteer canine-units were also involved in the search.
