Haut de la Garenne trial begins

The trial has begun of a husband and wife who worked at Haut de la Garenne in the 1970’s and 1980’s. They are charged with various act of physical abuse. This trial could be the final gasp of the Haut de la Garenne saga.

If you compare the original allegation of what went on at the children’s home with the allegations against the defendants a disparity is evident:

Feb 2008 A sex abuse victim at the home where cops are searching for bodies told how two of his pals hanged themselves after being raped.

Nov 2010 She would hit me with a wooden spoon, and she punched me in the back for not sitting up straight at the table.

Feb 2008 A SEX victim of the Jersey kids' home where police are digging for bodies told last night how depraved staff would invite paedophile pals to "rape parties".

Nov 2010 "If we swore, we had fairly liquid and soap placed in our mouths."

Feb 2008 Bodies were buried there - and on Saturday a teenager's skull was found beneath a corridor.
At least six more suspected graves have since been pinpointed.

Nov 2010 If an evening meal wasn't finished, Mrs Jordan would force the food into the child's mouth against her will.

Feb 2008 Staff were allowed to take a child out for the day - and would go to local beauty spots to rape and abuse them.

Nov 2010 He recalled one occasion when he was slapped across the face for not eating food originally served the previous day.

Feb 2008 Staff played a game called pinball wizard where they threw boys around the room so they ricocheted off the furniture.

Nov 2010 The impact of the slap left the young boy with a blood blister on his face, the jury heard.

July 2008 the News of the World claims that “a top secret police report” detailed how “innocent children were raped, murdered and their bodies then burnt in a furnace at the Jersey House of Horrors”.

Nov 2010 If I had wet the bed she would grab me by the ears and hold my face in the sheets

Both deny all charges.
